Code of Practice
The Code of Practice sets out general expectations of players for the benefit of the Band as a whole. It aims to help:
General rules
All members of the Band should be committed to the Code of Practice. Specifically they will be expected to:
Rehearsals, Performances and Concerts
Players are expected to note and heed advice given during rehearsals, for example, on musical styles, interpretation and ensemble playing which are key components of rehearsals. Regular attendance at rehearsals is vital. Persistent and/or spasmodic attendance has a detrimental effect on the performance of the Band as a whole and therefore its reputation.
Under normal circumstances, members are expected to attend performances and concerts. If anyone is unavailable to play, the Music Director or Secretary should be informed in good time so a substitute may be found.
Periods of protracted absence or resignations from the Band should also be notified when possible well in advance.

- contribute towards a positive musical ethos;
- provide a beneficial contribution by the Band to culture in the community.
General rules
All members of the Band should be committed to the Code of Practice. Specifically they will be expected to:
- attend rehearsals regularly and punctually;
- pay subscriptions promptly at the start of each term;
- be courteous and attentive to the Music Director;
- avoid all unnecessary talking and chatting during rehearsals;
- turn off and not use mobile devices during rehearsals;
- play at performances and concerts on published dates;
- follow agreed dress codes for performances and concerts;
- observe professional standards of conduct at public venues;
- attend early rehearsals to gain experience and confidence (advisory only).
