Littlehampton Concert Band plays for Armed Forces Day
Great weather ensured a really popular day out on the green at Littlehampton for the Armed Forces Day. There were loads of things going on all day and it was a very busy and very popular event.
Highlights of the day included the Red Devils parachute display team who were very impressive, plus a host of displays from various services. There were lots of stalls and things to look at plus the Littlehampton Concert Band performed some suitably military and patriotic music for the afternoon.
We've got lots more concerts in the diary so check out our Concerts 2010 page for all the details.
Ferring Fun for the Littlehampton Concert Band
Ferring was packed today (Saturday 19th June) and understandably so for the Ferring Village Day. It was a really good event with lots of things going on all day. The whole event had a great atmosphere and we the Littlehampton Concert Band did it's bit to provide some light musical entertainment for the people of Ferring.
We've got lots more concerts like this coming up so check out our Concerts 2010 page for all the details.

Not one but two more concerts announced
We are pleased to announce that the Littlehampton Concert Band has been invited to perform at two more concerts during the summer season. They should all be great fun so read the details and come along and join us.
The first is NEXT SATURDAY (26th June) for the Armed Forces Day in Littlehampton. We'll be performing from about 1pm as part of a packed day or activities which including the Red Devils display team.
The second is at our home at the Body Shop Trading Post. This will be on Saturday 31st July from 12pm to 2pm and the Body Shop's events are always fun so it should be a good day. (We're also performing that evening too so you could be really lucky and see us twice!!!)
More details including maps of where we're playing will be available soon so watch this space - and if you're coming to see us today at Ferring, a map is below.
Trumpet Sold
We are pleased to announce that we've sold the brand new Trumpet that was owned by late trumpetter, Mike Callaghan. It has been sold to a 12 year old boy who is learning the instrument but is already a performing jazz trumpet. It has gone to a great home and I am sure that Mike would be very pleased to know that it has been well homed.
To see more items for sale, see our 'For Sale' page which will tell you all about them.
Another new concert announced
We've got another date for your diaries - this time in Arundel for their outside Proms season. We'll be playing by the ruins next to the river on Sunday 25th July 2010 from 2pm so come and have a listen.
Birthday Concert a Huge Success
It was a brilliant and fun evening which ended with the band receiving a standing ovation from the audience. And what a way to celebrate 22 years of music making. Our Birthday Concert has always been popular but this year saw the biggest audience ever.
In addition to the music and fun, we also had a raffle and retiring collection to raise money for the Luke Cory Trust, a charity set up to buy and run a caravan in Selsey for the families of children with Myloid Leukemia. Thanks to the generosity of the audience, we raised over £400 for the trust - a fantastic result.
Do have a look at the Birthday Concert page for more details and we'll be adding pictures and sound samples shortly.
Bagpipes for Sale
A member of the band has a set of bagpipes for sale. Unusual instrument that is not normally featured in a concert band but they get a great sound and are virtually brand new.
For more details, see our 'For Sale' page which will tell you all about it.
Our next public engagement is ...

This year sees a series of 5 Sunday afternoon Proms concerts which are completely free and a great afternoon of music. Chairman of Arun District Council:-
I just wanted to write to thank you for inviting me to your 18th Birthday Concert which was held on 22nd April 2006. Please again pass on my congratulations to John Wyatt and the rest of the band for achieving this milestone and here is to the next 18 years.
As usual the concert was superb and I know that although Wendy was very nervous about playing in public for the first time, it was a wonderful experience for her.
Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing which is all for the benefit of the local community.
Tony Squires

Just a note to say how much Diane and I enjoyed the 18th Birthday Concert at Rustington yesterday evening. It was very well laid on and very welcoming.

The council would like to thank you, and the Members of the Littlehampton Concert Band, most sincerely for the inestimable contribution the Band, once again, made to the success of the Annual Community Carol Concert.
The Carol Concert, as you know, is thoroughly enjoyed each year by the many members of the local community who attend, and December's Concert was most certainly an overwhelming success.
Once again, thank you for your continuing support and assistance - it would definitely not be the same without you!
Carole Ward - Clerk of the Council
